Florian Miedel is a skilled trial lawyer and appellate advocate with over twenty years of experience in New York State and Federal Courts, where he has successfully represented clients in a number of high-profile and complex matters, in both white collar cases and investigations, and more traditional criminal matters, such as terrorism, RICO, kidnapping, murder, fraud, rape, and computer crimes. Mr. Miedel aggressively pursues favorable outcomes at all stages of criminal proceedings. On countless occasions, his thorough investigation, forceful negotiation skills, and relentless advocacy on behalf of his clients have persuaded prosecutors not to indict, to dismiss pending charges, and to offer favorable plea bargains. He has litigated hundreds of suppression and evidentiary motions with frequent favorable outcomes. At trial, his skilled courtroom advocacy has led to a remarkably high acquittal rate. Recent acquittals have included murder in aid of racketeering, narcotics conspiracy, weapons possession, and civil rights assault - all in Federal Court. His creative and thoughtful sentencing arguments have frequently convinced judges to sentence his clients far below the applicable guideline ranges. Finally, in appellate matters, Mr. Miedel's excellent writing skills and persuasive presentations have achieved a number of reversals in New York's appellate courts.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Miedel was the Legal Director of The Bronx Defenders. He was also a trial attorney with the Federal Defenders Office for the Eastern District of New York, and the Neighborhood Defenders Service of Harlem. In addition, he was an appellate advocate for The Office of the Appellate Defender, and the Capital Defender Office, both in New York.
